Since Blue's Boy is on here, and since I'm dropping about $40 a month on Scholastic clubs and ZERO for myself on Amazon, I thought I'd ask what the little ones are up to.

Squeaker is DEVOURING Magic Treehouse series. (she's 6 and in first grade). I'm talking like a book per day. SO glad I got the 20 something book set for her. She's also rereading Ramona the Pest (her favorite) and I just bought these Fairy books ( I don't know who writes them; this set is on "Weather fairies" and the last one she got was about a "rainbow fairy"... there's all kinds of these books and she's a fairy fan. LOL) among some favorites on the school book order.... Let's see if I can pull up the order, cuz at the moment the only one I remember is Bunnicula.  sleeping

6   A Bad Case of Stripes (free book, no idea what it's about)
10   Bunnicula: A Rabbit-Tale of Mystery
23   Esio Trot    (By Roald Dahl- can you believe I never heard of this one?!)
28   Fudge Collection    ( I LOVED Fudge at her age! I can't wait for her to read it!)
35   Greg Tang Math Trio    (heard good things about these math stories, let's see if they're worth the hype)
40   Holes   by Louis Sachar
83   Wayside School Pack Also from Louis Sachar

I love love love Louis Sachar... I started his books in 2nd or 3rd grade, and when my grandma found out, she got all excited, because she knew him when he was a little boy! My grandma was an elementary school secretary and my grandpa was a lunchroom cook and janitor. My grandpa knew him well... he didn't always have lunch money, so my grandparents would feed him on days he didn't have money or food. For those of you who know the Wayside School books, Mrs. Jewels was modeled after Louis' favorite teacher at the school my grandparents worked at. My brother brought Mrs. Jukes in for show and tell once in elementary school.  laugh He was the hero of second grade. LOL

I LOVE sharing my childhood favorites with my daughter. I really hope she enjoys these like I did... and can't wait for her to discover Laura Ingalls, Jo March, Mary Lennox and Sara Crewe.... all old friends of mine.   Wink

I don't have little ones anymore, but I love all those books. Louis Sachar was my kids hero at that age, and I think I've read everything he's ever written, right along with them. Holes is a favorite, and I've still got it. *goes to read it again*  grin3

One of my favorites was "Someday Angeline". My grandma had it autographed... she let me bring it to school for the teacher to read, and the teacher never really got around to it, it just sat on the ledge of the chalkboard. After a couple months, my grandma wanted it back, and I realized I hadn't seen it, as lots of things tended to pile up on that little ledge. Sure enough, someone had taken it. I said something to my teacher, and she didn't even offer to replace the book! She was one of my favorite teachers, but I was really upset about the whole situation, and horrifed that I had lost something of my grandmother's.

Ok, the book order FINALLY showed up....

We were really busy yesterday/last night, so she didn't get to her big pile o' fun until this morning.

I sent her to get dressed and brush her hair and 5 min later I walk out to grab her some breakfast and guess who is sitting on the couch (on the laundry I haven't folded) with my sweatshirt over her PJs, looking like this  ?  You guessed it. yes

I said "HEY! You goin to school like that? You need to stop reading and put some clothes on, Goosey!" whip and she goes "But I JUST STARTED BUNNICULA!" oops

Naw, she's nothin like her Mom. Why would you think that?  sweetheart
