GAH... I want to, but I JUST dropped $20 on the Lost Symbol, and then the rest of the Aurora series... plus I've been instructed not to buy anymore hardcovers until we find out where we're moving to. It's one thing to haul a buncha books in the back of the truck... another to add that much more weight to a uhaul and tow it cross country. ( Oh goddess of mercy, please do NOT make us move cross country!)

Write us a review of the Patterson book if you liked it, Jason. We'd love to hear about it.

Anybody ready to discuss this? I'll post some questions and you can let everybody know what you thought at your leisure.

Did you like the book? How did it flow for you? Go fast, drag on, which?

Do you think Letty is a realistic character, or is she too advanced for her age to be believable?

Did you feel sorry for Juliet, or did you want to smack her? Or both?

All of John Sandford's main characters are deeply flawed individuals. Does this make for better reading for you, or worse? Do you like the characters, even when they act in ways that you would not?

Okay, I'll start.  thumbsup

This book went very fast for me, and it flowed well. I can't say I agreed with the decisions these characters made, but it didn't interfere with my enjoyement of the story. In all actuality, I think I like his characters better because they are flawed and imperfect and do stupid things sometimes. Even when they act in a way that I think is immoral, it's interesting.

I hate the whole 'victim' thing. I wanted to smack hell out of Juliet even as I felt sorry for her. I know that children who are raised in abusive environments seek out those kinds of relationships, and I know she was young, but it's hard for me  not to judge. I should work on that, I guess.

Letty, as a character, bothers me. I really kind of feel that she should have some therapy.  tongue3 She's waaay to advanced for her age, and she has a problem asking for help. Even though she feels close to her adopted parents, she couldn't find some way to have them help her? Also, I don't care what kind of environment you're raised in, I don't think you'd be that adult at 14.

All in all, I really liked this book. My interest never wavered, and I think John Sandford is a fine writer.  thumbsup for me.
