Cool!  I love him as well. It seems like a book wouldn't do justice to him!

I'm fixin' to get the new Kindle DX (the big one) so Bodog can use my old one.  Sharing one does NOT work for us since I read on mine all day every day.

I'm going to try to get an iPad next year  thumbsup and I'm anxious to see how the kindle app looks on that. It works v. well on the iPod iPhone!

I love Amazon; but sometimes I HAVE to go to a physical bookstore, and usually it's a small one. Even though Barnes and Noble is seductive with it's coffee and it's pastries and it's copious places to read, who is going to talk books with me? Who's going to recommend that I read the latest Jim Butcher or tell me their very favorite thriller in the whole world that I absolutely just have to read, right now? Not a big chain, like B & N. They're drones, most of them, and they run you through like Walmart checkers...and they make about the same amount of money, so can you blame them? I yearn to talk to people who can't live without books, whose entire life would be saddened if they were never able to hold another book to their nose and smell that smell of books and paper and ink..

And I find those people in itty bitty bookstores.

So if Barnes and Noble bites the dust, it's certainly no skin offa my nose. They've got good coffee, but I never went there for the books.

Here's an interesting article about Barnes & Noble. The firm is currently up for sale. The author makes a few observations about how the mega-chain went from being the scourge of independent booksellers to possibly signaling a new era for independents.

The book "Green Eggs and Ham" celebrated its 50th birthday this week. It's hard to believe it's that old. But then it's hard to believe I'm that old, too.

Craig is going to host "Shark Bites" on The Discovery Channel on Wednesday, August 4. That should be interesting.

I was just on twitter last night saying, ok I know I've read this somewhere, so I did a google search.  I knew I recognized the names, but when they had the first murder scene, I was like, ok, I know I've read this. I didn't know who wrote them, but i knew somebody did.

They were good books, and the series was well done, but Maura Isles is so far nothing like the book. Nothing. Like. The. Book. She was almost obsessed, and certainly weirder than Sasha Alexander is playing her. Attractive, but with a MUCH darker edge, and a touch of crazy to her.

We'll see how it goes. So far I'm liking it.

I checked out this new detective program and liked it pretty well. It's based on books by Tess Gerritsen, but I haven't read any of them. In this first episode Angie Harmon (as Rizzoli) kind of carries the show. The rest of the characters are a little pale. But I think a few more episodes might rectify that. In an interview article, it says that the Isles character is a bit darker in the books and I think they need to bring that out in the series as well. I'm an Angie Harmon fan so I'll certainly watch it again.
